Judith Roache, misses out a National Bronze Medal by seconds!

Judith Roache travelled to the phoenix park yesterday April 18th to compete in the Great Ireland run. She Finished 4th in the over 55 category losing out on Bronze by 4 seconds. Her finishing time was 52:03, dropping 5 seconds off her previous 10k time.The race attracted 11,500 Senior athletes and 500 junior athletes. Superb running by Judith who since December has been winning titles in events around the country.

April Results

Fionnuala Keane travelled to Rotterdam on Sunday the 11th of April to compete in the 30th Rotterdam Mararthon. She ran under the 3 hours in a impressive time of 2:58:38. It was a windy and rather cold day which made running the 26.2 mile race that more challenging, However Fionnuala was delighted with her time.

Also on Sunday nearer by,Paul Keane ran in the well known Kilnaboy 10 miler. Paul described the course as tough and very hot due to teh recent heat wave that has hit Ireland. Paul still managed to run a super time of 64 minutes, averaging a 6 minute mile pace.

Fit 4 Life

Due to the length in the evenings, Fit 4 Life is now @7.30 pm Tuesday temperance hall, Thursdays in Bushfield @7.30.Bushfield is 3km out the Bullaun road, pass the golf course about a km on your right.

Easter 5k Run

Come and Join in this fun event on Monday the 5th of April. Try something different rather than running on the road, have fun while enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Kylebrack Wood.

From Loughrea, Take the Woodford Road R351 for approximatley 5 Miles, park at the Hill Pub on your left, Wood on your Right.

Craughwell 10 Miler

The first Craughwell 10 miler went off without a glich. Fantastic day all round, the weather , the organisation, the food, the care offered to athletes before and after the race all added to the hugh sucess of the day. Gerry Ryan eased his way to win the race, while former Olympian Pauline Curley took the womens title.

The Craughwell 10 miler was also a County Championship race. Our ladies took Bronze in the Senior team event,the 4 ladies that were on the team were Orlaith Kilraine,Annette keane, Thelma and Audrey McMahon.

St.Patricks day Parade

Loughrea Athletic Club will be taking part in the Annual Loughrea Parade.
All members are asked to come and march to promote the club. Meeting at 12.00 at station road carpark(Corry's Butchers) ,wear Club Singlet.

Mary Barret wins 2 Bronze and Silver at the World Championships

Mary Barret competed in the World Championship Indoor Masters in Kamloop in Canada this week. Mary took flight to Canada on Sunday 28th February and is returning home tomorrow the 6th of March, with 2 bronze and 1 silver. She won Bronze in the Pentathlon, Bronze in the High Jump and silver in the Shot. Such an impressive performance, after Air Canada Loosing her luggage leaving Mary only with the clothes she had on her, she even had a to go and buy a new pair of spikes to compete in the pentathlon!

Hat trick at Kilconeiron 8k

The last day of February brought over 160 Athletes to compete in the Kilconeiron 8k road race. A Cool, crisp, dry day, ideal conditions for a road race. Loughrea Athletes were in top gear.

Three female Loughrea athletes won in their categories. Fionnuala Keane was the first senior woman home in a time of 31.38, her sister Annette Keane followed in 36.34 to win the over 40’s category and to top the hat trick off Judith Roache won the over 55 category.

Paul Keane finished 4th overall in a speedy time of 28.48.

World Championships Canada - Mary Barret

Mary Barret is to compete in the World Championship Indoor Masters in Canada. Mary will be taking flight to Canada on the 1st of March to the 6th. She will be competing in the High Jump and Shot put and the pentathlon.
Mary has been a very successful athlete in field events over the years and still is.

Fit4Life Thursday 25th February

Fit 4 Life is changed to 7.30 this Thursday, after run all club members are meeting in Katherine's Kitchen for "A Club presentation" and "Tea & Coffee".
