In the galway schools track held recently in dangan two loughrea ac athletes won triple gold namely laura shaughnessy in the 400m hurdles,1500m and 3000m her clubmate melissa barrett won her gold in the shot putt, discus, and javelin. Both girls distinguished themselves further with laura winning an all ireland bronze medal in the 3000. in a pb of 10.35, Melissa won a silver medal in the galway community games javelin in ballinderren , Emmet creaven won a silver medal in the 100m and gold in the relay,emmet showed what a versatile athlete he is in both connacht schools and connacht clubs competitions picking up medals in both long jump and triple jump. Congrats to all three on fantastic wins and to their coach mary barrett.
caroline clancy, siobhan glynn, tj beatty,barry beirne,ferdie whelan,darragh o brien,david reilly,gerry reilly,philip reilly,eoghan hanley,shelia reilly,and ronan kelly all participated in the recent 5k series. Ronan also competed in the edinburgh marathon and completed the 26.2 miles in 3 hours 55minutes well done .
jarlath fitzgerald has completed four marathons ranging from arizona to the burren, with england and cork thrown in for good measure. His time for cork was 3 hours 50 mins good stuff jarlath.
