The first leg off the 5k series took place last night Tuesday the 27th of April in Newcastle just a few miles outside Athenry. It remained dry for the race, which im sure all 535 runners appreciated. A great turnout from Loughrea A.C., the bright yellow singlets were easily spotted amongst the crowds.
Our First male Athlete home was Paul Keane running a time of 17.14 finishing in the top ten, followed by David Quinn in 19.06 and Pat Hannon just behind David in 19.29.
The First Female athlete home was Toni MacCarthaigh in 20.46 second was Thelma McMahon in a time in 21.26, Annette Keane was third Loughrea female Athlete home in 21.57.
